Sanctions Screening for Student Recruitment Agencies

A student recruitment agency works with many names: students, their sponsors, sub-agents and partner contacts. Here you upload one file with all of them and get one report, with every name checked against 10 official sanctions lists.

Put the student, the agent and the contact in their own columns, one row per student. Up to 5 parties per row can be screened in the same run, and the report names the party of each possible match, for example the agent.

Pay once per batch, from €19. No subscription, no monthly fee.

A 2026 OFAC case in education

On 12 February 2026 OFAC announced that IMG Academy, LLC agreed to pay $1,720,000 to settle its potential civil liability for apparent violations of OFAC counternarcotics sanctions. OFAC says that over five consecutive years the academy transacted with two individuals whom OFAC sanctioned for their ties to a sanctioned Mexico-based drug cartel, through yearly tuition enrolment agreements for their two children, from 2018 to 2022.

OFAC called the apparent violations non-egregious and not voluntarily self-disclosed, and it noted the academy's substantial cooperation and the remedial measures it took. OFAC wrote that the case highlights the importance of effective, risk-based controls at institutions across a wide variety of sectors, including academic institutions.

Education agencies: questions

Can I screen students and agents in one file?

Yes. Put each party in its own name column, one row per student. Up to 5 parties per row can be screened in the same run, and the report names the party of each possible match.

Which lists are checked?

10 official sanctions lists: the OFAC SDN List, the US Consolidated Screening List and the lists of the UK, the EU, the UN, Switzerland, France, Poland, Canada and Australia.

Is the check free?

You can check up to 10 names in any 24 hours for free with the free check. A batch check of a file costs $19 (€19, £16) for up to 100 rows, $49 (€49, £42) for up to 500 rows and $99 (€99, £85) for up to 2,000 rows, paid once.

What happens to the student data?

Your file and the report are deleted 24 hours after upload. The data is not used to train AI models.

Does a match mean that the person is sanctioned?

Not on its own. A match means that a name in your file is similar to a name on a list. Review each possible match with the other data you have, such as the date of birth and the country. The tool does not decide for you.

sanctionlistcheck.com gives screening information. It is not legal advice, and it does not approve or reject anyone. Every possible match needs a person to review it, and your organisation makes its own decisions.
