Terms of Service
1. Who We Are and Contract Parties
The Sanction List Check service (sanctionlistcheck.com) is operated by Miguel Casares Robles, an individual sole trader ("autónomo" in Spain), registered address: Horno de Haza, 34 2A, 18002 Granada, Spain.
These Terms of Service constitute a legally binding agreement between you, the customer, and Miguel Casares Robles concerning your access to and use of the Sanction List Check website and service.
Paddle.com Market Limited (England and Wales, company no. 8172165, registered office 30 Old Bailey, London EC4M 7AU) is the Merchant of Record for all paid purchases. Depending on your billing location, the contracting Paddle entity may instead be the regional entity named on your invoice: Paddle.com Inc. in the United States, or Paddle.com (Canada) Ltd in Canada. Paddle, not Miguel Casares Robles, is the seller of record on your invoice or receipt. Paddle collects and remits VAT and sales tax, issues the receipt, and handles payment card processing, refunds and chargebacks, with the payment subject to the Paddle Buyer Terms. The contract for the screening service is between you and Miguel Casares Robles; the contract for payment processing is between you and Paddle.
2. Description of the Service
Sanction List Check provides a tool for screening names against official sanctions and watch lists. You can upload a CSV or XLSX list of company or individual names, or type a single name for a free check. The service screens each name against the following eight official lists:
- OFAC SDN (Office of Foreign Assets Control Specially Designated Nationals List)
- US Consolidated Screening List (CSL)
- The EU Consolidated list
- The UK Sanctions List
- The UN Consolidated list
- France — the national designations in the registre national des gels published by the Direction générale du Trésor
- Poland — the lista sankcyjna MSWiA published by the Ministry of the Interior and Administration
- Switzerland — the SECO consolidated list
Upon completion, the service returns a PDF, CSV, and JSON report showing matches, possible matches, and "no match" results. Each result includes the source list and a timestamp.
Our matching method uses deterministic fuzzy-text matching algorithms (Jaro-Winkler and token-set) against official list snapshots. No Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Large Language Models (LLMs) are used to process, read, or judge your customer data at any point in the product. Uploaded data is never used to train any AI model.
3. Account and Access
Access to paid features requires an account. We use magic-link email authentication only; no passwords are required. A session cookie is used for authentication, which is HttpOnly, Secure, and SameSite=Strict, expiring after 24 hours of inactivity. We do not use any third-party advertising or tracking cookies in the product.
Each account is tied to a single email address. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your email account and for all activities that occur under your account.
4. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability
The Sanction List Check product is a due-diligence screening AID. It is NOT a legal compliance certification and it is NOT legal advice.
The product never states that a name or counterparty is "safe," "clear," or "approved." It only reports matches, possible matches, and no-match results against the screened lists, for your own review.
Every match or possible match is for human review by you, the customer. You are solely responsible for your own compliance decisions and for any action or inaction based on the report.
Results are provided "as is," without warranty of completeness or accuracy.
A known limitation of fuzzy matching is that it can miss a true match when a name has more than one valid transliteration or romanization (e.g., from Cyrillic or Arabic script into Latin letters), because spellings can diverge beyond the matching thresholds.
Miguel Casares Robles's total liability arising from the service is capped at the total fees actually paid by you for the relevant order or service in the 12 months before the claim.
5. Pricing and Payment
All purchases are one-time, and we do not offer subscriptions in this version of the service.
- Free: One single-name check, no signup, no card required.
- EUR 19 one-time: Batch upload, up to 100 rows.
- EUR 49 one-time: Batch upload, up to 500 rows.
- EUR 99 one-time: Batch upload, up to 2,000 rows.
As stated in Section 1, Paddle.com Market Limited (England and Wales, company no. 8172165, registered office 30 Old Bailey, London EC4M 7AU) or the regional Paddle entity named on your invoice is the Merchant of Record for all paid purchases. Paddle handles all payment processing, including collecting and remitting VAT and sales tax, issuing receipts, and managing chargebacks. Your payment is subject to the Paddle Buyer Terms.
6. Refund Policy
You are eligible for a full refund within 14 days of purchase if the report was not generated, or was not generated correctly (i.e., the service failed to deliver the paid batch screening report). Refunds can be requested via Paddle (as the merchant of record who processed the payment) or by contacting [email protected]. The free single-name check has no charge and therefore nothing to refund.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Resell access to the Sanction List Check service.
- Attempt to circumvent row limits or other service restrictions.
- Attempt to scrape or systematically extract data from the sanctions lists via our service.
- Upload any data that you are not authorized to screen or process.
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in any way that violates these Terms.
8. Intellectual Property
The Sanction List Check service, including its matching logic, algorithms, and all associated intellectual property, belongs to Miguel Casares Robles.
Your uploaded data and the generated reports for your specific screening jobs belong to you. You are granted a license to use these reports for your internal compliance and due-diligence purposes.
9. Data Handling and Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. For full details on how we collect, use, and protect your data, please refer to our separate Privacy Policy page.
Uploaded batch job files and generated reports (CSV, JSON, PDF) are stored temporarily in Cloudflare R2 in Cloudflare's Eastern Europe region (location hint EEUR) and are deleted automatically no later than 24 hours after upload. Cloudflare may process requests at its global edge network, which can be outside the EU. No legal EU-jurisdiction pinning is applied, as a location hint is a placement preference, not a legal jurisdiction restriction.
We use Cloudflare for hosting, storage, database, and compute services; stored data uses the location hint EEUR for Cloudflare D1 and Cloudflare R2, and requests may be processed at its global edge network, which can be outside the EU, as no legal EU-jurisdiction pinning is applied and a location hint is a placement preference, not a legal jurisdiction restriction. Hetzner Online GmbH is a sub-processor that hosts our name-matching engine on a server in Helsinki, Finland; this server normally receives the screened names and the fields sent for matching (country, date of birth, and entity type, where given) and processes them in memory only for the duration of the request, without writing screened names to disk or including them in its logs. If that server is not available or returns an error, or if we switch it off, the matching runs in Cloudflare's network instead, which can be outside the EU. Resend is a sub-processor for transactional email, located in the EU or US, used for sign-in links, job notifications, alerts, and API key delivery emails. Paddle handles payment processing and billing as Merchant of Record and as an independent controller for the payment, tax, and invoicing data it collects, under the Paddle Privacy Notice, with the payment itself subject to the Paddle Buyer Terms.
Miguel Casares Robles, based in Granada, Spain (EU), is the data controller for your account and billing metadata. For the names you screen, you are the controller and we act as your processor under the Data Processing Agreement; Cloudflare, Hetzner Online GmbH, and Resend act as sub-processors under their own data processing terms. Paddle acts as Merchant of Record and as an independent controller for the payment, tax, and invoicing data it collects, under the Paddle Privacy Notice.
As a data subject, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Spanish data protection authority (Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, AEPD) or your own country's supervisory authority.
For privacy or data-related requests, please contact [email protected].
10. Changes to These Terms
Miguel Casares Robles reserves the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the updated terms on the website or by email. Your continued use of the service after such modifications will constitute your acknowledgment and agreement to the updated terms.
11. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the service at our sole discretion, without notice, for any reason, including but not limited to, a breach of these Terms of Service or any abusive conduct.
12. Governing Law
These Terms of Service and your use of the Sanction List Check service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Spain, without regard to its conflict of law principles. The language of these legal pages is English.
